Travel Information

Great Barrington is located in the scenic and historic Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts. Finding your way to this area may require plane, train, and/or automobile but you will relax and enjoy the tranquil setting and dark skies at night once you arrive!

Please complete the Final Travel Form by May 1.

Getting to Great Barrington

The nearest airports to Great Barrington, MA for service from domestic or Canadian airports are Bradley (BDL) in Hartford, CT and Albany (ALB) in New York state. We will run van shuttle service as needed from/to Bradley (for an additional fee of US$50-$75 each way, exact price TBD). The exact time will depend on the responses in the Final Travel Form, which is due May 1. Please note that we are not planning to offer shuttle service to/from Albany.

The nearest international airports are Logan (BOS) in Boston and JFK in New York City. We will be offering coach service from/to JFK (for an additional fee of US$50-$75 each way, exact price TBD). The bus will leave JFK at approximately 5 PM EST on Sunday, June 23. The exact time and whether there will be additional coaches will depend on the responses in the Final Travel Form, which is due May 1. The coach will return to JFK on Friday, June 28 leaving Great Barrington at approximately 2 PM EST. Please note that we are not planning to offer shuttle service to/from Logan.

Please note that we don’t recommend using public transit from Albany and Boston (this is the United States, after all!)

For anyone who is planning on spending any time in NYC before or after the conference there will also be free van service to/from the Hudson, NY Amtrak station which has direct service to/from NYC’s Penn Station (Moynihan Hall). Vans will be available from the Hudson Amtrak station on the Sunday before the conference and Friday afternoon after the conference. Please complete the Final Travel Form by May 1.

If you drive to campus, parking is free and readily available.

Local Transportation & Shuttle Service

Simon’s Rock will provide free shuttle service from campus to hotels and restaurants in the morning before the meeting and in the evening. It is also possible to walk into town from campus (30 minutes, 3 kms).
